According to Al Gore, in the film, An Inconvenient Truth, it is unwise to construct traditional housing at and below sea level. We concur, and we believe Leonardo DiCaprio would also agree on this issue.
Again, we ask why we were given design parameters. We were expecting Brad Pitt and Global Gree

I like the design I could use a nice porch. We love porches for visiting and sharing a glass of lemonade or cafe au lait. I would love to work with Global Green.

I see nothing green about this house. Maybe if the inside had NASA's top ten plants that cleans the inside air only then might it be a great home. http://www.zone10.com/tech/NASA/Fyh.htm

How can I learn in what material, these houses are build.
I'll be more the happy to tell you why is a good design. Carlos Briceno

Thank God for Global Green and Brad Pitt. At least ONE American cares that one of its great cities needs help!

I am grateful to the Global Green Organization for taking the initiative to bring this work into the world. The design specifics are mirrored by the input of the people involved. True leadership is paramount for the leaders to take the initial steps and demonstrate the action. - Greensource Hawaii

I meant contemporary.. sorry for the typo.

It seems to be a very contempy design, which I'm not fond of...but I do like the fact that it is a green design. That gives it major bonus points in my book!

we need to rebuild new orleans green. this is more than just design of one home, its to create a green city ready for climate change - clean energy, green building, healthy homes.

its all good

Terrible design. Too many corners. Every corner adds to the cost. Nothing warm about this design.

Design NOT context sensitive. Ignores historically green architectural practices that utilize local materials (xypress, oak & pine), deep porches & eaves for sun protection, strategically located full length windows & doors to maximize cross breezes. No welcome frontage for urban sociability.

I agree with ddsaul - the design is good from a green standpoint but lacks new orleans flavor. windows could be larger too, and paint it something bright!

This is a good design because it maximizes a great city's natural resources. I suugest some french shutters, a little spanish wrought iron and a stoop for visiting. Can't forget the cultural aspect of housing that makes New Orleans powerful

We and nature are one. God inspired by design: each and every life form no matter what species. World Peace and Love begins with God, understanding, empathy and connection to ALL that is. Without this we have nothing. Around our planet= Global, with God as our leader and guide, connected to all.

I recently visited this house currently under construction in the lower 9th ward. This photo is fron the perspective of the rear view. The roof slants towards the hot noon to evening sun to benefit the rooftop solar collectors. There are less windows on the sunniest side. 2nd floor roof is green.

Splendido lavoro. Ci vuole coraggio e determinazione. Continuate cos.

I must comment on those who criticize rebuilding in NOLA. Not all of the city is below sea level and it was not the hurricane winds but the inadequately built levees that caused the flooding. People have lived in the Holy Cross neighborhood for centuries! This is sustainable AND very liveable!!

This sets a standard of beauty plus sustainability. Trees that grow quickly will provide shade. Solar direction of house is great, too. As a New Orleanian, I thrilled to have this example here!

This design doens't look very sustainable to me. Large expanses of wall without sun protection and windows without shading. In New Orleans' hot humid climate this would be an oven.

New Orleans is a city of unique architecture. Global Green's efforts with help keep it on the map. Different is really good in this case.

We need to ship these modulars to somewhere practical. Who doesn't mourn for New Orleans and Mardis Gras territory? How about the reservations where the indigenous don't benefit from casino dollars?

how can so many people be ignorant to the obvious- that certain areas of the planet are uninhabitable? What a waste of natural and human resources, to rebuild in one such area, where the earth itself does not support a human population.

A very applaudable concept!

design can no longer be considered 'good' unless it is environmentally friendly. sustainability consideration needs to be part of every design process. designers & manufacturers need to take responsibility for the impacts & end result of their product.
